Ford Ranger Will Get FordPass Connect By Mid-2020

Today, more than ever before people are connected through digital. Whether you work in iT, or on a computer, you’re looking at your phone, scrolling through your I-Pad or streaming your favourite show through NetFlix, we simply can’t live without the internet. One of the only things that weren’t connected completely to our online worlds was our car, and now thanks to Ford Australia that’s about to change.

We’ve always had technology such as Satellite navigation and Bluetooth, but now with the new Ford Ranger, you’ll be more connected than ever before. The Ford Ranger will become Australia’s first vehicle to be completely wired to the internet through the FordPass embedded modem. By the middle of 2020, you’ll effectively be able to connect your car to the FordPass app on your phone and unlock a myriad of features never before seen here in Oz.

This new “Connected car” technology will allow you to locate your car, remote unlock, remote start, live traffic updates and provide you health alerts for your vehicle. With the use of FordPass, there will be no need to scroll through your owners manual or call a dealer to book a service. As well as all the cool features, your owners manual, service history and bookings and even a real-time assistant will be all in the palm of your hand via the app. It will also make it a one-touch space for roadside assistance.

The need to simplify our lives as we continue to work longer hours and have less and less time for the mundane things in life, Ford has stepped up. By offering state of the art technology across the Ford Ranger line-up, it is once again the first 4×4 in Australia to provide such innovation.

Key Convenience Features of the FordPass Connect App

Remote vehicle monitoring and vehicle status:

It allows you to check on things such as fuel levels and tyre pressures from your smartphone.

Remote lock and unlock:

This remote functionality will stop the “oh no did I lock the car” moments. It also allows you to let friends into your car if you’re now there.

Vehicle locator:

Everyone has needed a vehicle locator at some point in their life in a multi-story car park, haven’t they?

Remote start and stop:

It makes for a cosy interior in midwinter of the heat of summer. It allows you to remotely start the car so it can warm-up or cool down before you get in. It does, however, ensure doors are locked before it starts and cannot be driven until you arrive with the key.

Live traffic updates and health alerts:

It allows you to know in advance of maintenance concerns and traffic incidents to best streamline your day.

It seems that Ford has thought of everything in the new connected world we live in and taken a few last-minute annoyances and streamlined them perfectly into our lives and our smartphones.
