5 Questions to Answer Before Buying a New Car

Buying a new car is the second largest thing you will purchase in your life, aside from your home so it’s important to know what you want, what you want to spend and what you’re going to do with it when it arrives. Before you go out and spend your hard earned cash on some new wheels make sure you answer these 5 important questions.

  • What’s your Budget?
  • New or used?
  • What are your needs V’s your wants
  • How long will you keep it?
  • What is your new cars main purpose?

What’s your Budget?

This is the most important question you can ask yourself before looking for your next car. You want to make sure that your looking at cars you can afford so that you don;t fall in love with that new Ferrari when your paypacket can only afford a new Ford car instead. Setting your budget will also help you stay focussed on what you really need in a car, rather than dreaming of all the bling that may not make sense in the long run.

New or Used?

Buying a new car V a used car isn;t just about money. A new car will come with some added extras such as extended warranties, that new car smell and the ability to add what you want before it gets delivered. Purchasing a used car, however will save you money, but may also get you a car where any small issues have already been dealt with. It may already have the things you wanted at a discount and you may get a larger choice especially if the model you love had been discontinued.

What are you needs V your wants?

This is a big one. Don’t get your absolute must-haves confused with your nice-to-haves. Once you’ve set your budget you need to decide what you can’t do without and also what you would like if you can afford it. You may decide that you have to have air conditioning, apple car-play and 6 airbags, but you can do without the large wheels and body kit if the car doesn’t already come with it.

How long do you plan to keep it?

When it comes to things such as wear and tear, warranty and depreciation it’s good to know how long you want to keep your car for. If it’s short term then you’ll want to consider the 2nd hand value of the model you’re looking at. If you’re one to keep your car for years to come then the length of the warranty and the reliability of the engine will be your biggest concern.

What is your new cars main purpose?

This question determines if you need a sedan, a hatch, and SUV or 4wd. If you’re buying your first car and it’s just you and a friend driving to and from work and the beach on Sundays you’ll obviously need a much smaller, more fuel efficient car than a family of 4 that likes four wheel driving on the weekends. Whatever it is you need your car for there’s one that will suit. Check out the new Ford cars for sale on the site and you’ll find your perfect car partner.
