The Ford Endura Finally Replaces The Locally Made Territory

The Ford Territory is no longer available in Australia and this has left a major hole for Ford that needed to be filled. To do this, Ford has just released their all-new Ford Endura. The Endura’s Australian sibling, The Territory, was known as a reliable family car with space for everyone and everything, and we’re sure there will be a few disappointed Ford fans with the news that the Endura will only come in a 5 seat option.

Ford wants to change the image of their family fleet and bring them into line with other SUV’s that are pitched as more upmarket family wagons. These will include the VW Tiguan and the Mazda CX5. Only available in Diesel, you still have the option of 2 wheel or all-wheel drive.

Deleting the petrol edition from the range the Endura is claiming to deliver fuel consumption of 6.7L/100km, out of it’s the 140kW/400Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. This engine will be coupled with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Inside the new endura cabin, you can expect to see luxurious additions such as Ford’s latest SYNC3 infotainment system with high-spec voice activation, satellite-navigation plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. It also comes standard with autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, lane keep assist and hill start assist.

Keeping your family safe on the roads and the driver out of trouble and alert are 8 airbags, All around cameras and parking sensors, traffic sign recognition and trailer anti-sway. It also comes with the latest in collision detection software and pedestrian alert warnings. Taking a wrong turn in the Endura would be very hard indeed.

Much more than just another family SUV, the Endura is poised to upset the luxury SUV market and sit nicely within the lineup at the blue oval of award-winning small to large SUV’s.
