Ranger Turns One

The Ford Ranger is turning one in November and to celebrate its first year on sale the specification level of all XL models has been further enhanced with no change to their respective recommended retail prices.

"To mark Ranger's first birthday we are further enhancing the level of standard equipment on the entry XL models, delivering a product which offers a level of specification unmatched by any of its competitors," said Vice President Marketing and Sales, Mark Winslow.

"There's no reason why a tough workhorse truck can't offer a variety of thoughtful and useful passenger car-like creature comforts."

From November, all XL models receive power mirrors, power windows with automatic driver's side down, an engine immobiliser, central locking and remote keyless entry as standard.

"The specification enhancements add to the overall appeal of Ranger XL models as they make daily motoring even more convenient," said Mr Winslow.

"Handy features like power windows with automatic driver's side down mean a driver's hands aren't off the wheel for as long and remote keyless entry alleviates unnecessary fiddling about finding the correct key to open the door.

"Power mirrors aid ease-of-operation and also assist in making tricky reversing maneuvers a breeze, while the addition of an engine immobiliser improves vehicle security."
Since launch in November last year, more than 8,000 new Ford Rangers have been purchased. Its mix of rugged performance attributes, including one-tonne plus payload across the range and three-tonne towing ability* combined with the style, comfort and refinement of a passenger car have made it a favourite amongst light commercial vehicle buyers.

"Ranger has been a great success for Ford thanks to its bold look, modern car-like interior, choice of torque-laden turbo-diesel engines and improved ride and handling," said Mr Winslow.

"Ranger XL models now boast features as standard that are usually only found on passenger cars or high series models and we anticipate these improvements to specification at no extra cost will keep Ranger at the top of many shopping lists," he concluded.
